but not the type of silence that rings in your ear between anxious breaths of air, or

when you smother your struggles to keep someone else from feeling what you do.

i hope you find silence in the sunset,

right when the sky starts to turn into your favourite shade,

maybe in the short seconds when you hug someone for the first time—

in a long time,

or when you don’t have to say anything, but your eyes tell them “i love you” just as clearly as your words could have.

i hope your life is filled with the type of silence that softens your heart, and

brings you comfort even in the midst of the loud and volatile world.
